Introducing The Godin ACS Koa
The Music Zoo is proud to announce the launch of the Godin ACS Koa. We’ve long been fans of the versatile Godin ACS, a blend of classical guitar concepts and solidbody design. We are also big fans of figured Koa wood in guitar builds, for its beauty and tonal properties. So it was an easy decision to collaborate with Godin Guitars to create the ACS Koa series of guitars, available exclusively at The Music Zoo in 2011. This marks the first time that any Godin guitar ever has been constructed using Koa, so we’re extra excited about this one. The prototype (pictured) is a killer guitar, and if you like it as much as we do one can be yours for just $1,495.00, including gig bag. We should start seeing these in the store in late March/early April. Follow the jump for more info and pictures.
The ACS Koa is based on a standard ACS-SA model, which features a chambered Silver Leaf Maple body, and superb individual transducer saddles powered by a customized preamp system from the RMCTM Pickup Company. The upgraded Koa tops are all figured two piece bookmatched tops. Ordinary ACS-SA models have a Cedar top which is traditionally a bit darker than Koa sonically, with many overtones. The Koa top will give it a bit more of a bump in the mid-range and a touch more clarity in bass notes. However, the tonal difference is subtle, and the vibe of the ACS guitar is still very much intact.
ACS-SA info from Godin.com:
The incredibly comfortable neck from the Multiac Nylon is used here with a Maple body & Cedar top to achieve our most affordable synth access guitar ever. Although the body is chambered, response from the maple top is more typical of a solid body design than that of a traditional acoustic guitar. This design results in an instrument that is virtually free of feedback, making it easy to use even when the band gets loud. The engine in both the ACS-SA & ACS-SA Slim includes individual transducer saddles powered by a customized preamp system from the RMCTM Pickup Company. This system not only produces superb amplified sound, but also produces a hexaphonic output through a 13-pin connector enabling direct access to RolandTM GR-Series guitar synthesizers.
