New 2013 Fender Select Series Models!
NAMM 2013 The Fender Select Series is back and better than ever for 2013. The Select Series is the top of the line when it comes to Non-Custom Shop Fender USA instruments, and with all these new features and specs, it shows. Pictured above is the Fender Select Telecaster HH with a chambered alder body, topped off with an exotic looking piece of Malaysian Blackwood. Add in a birdseye maple neck, compound radius fretboard, and two Wide Range Special humbuckers and you’ve got yourself a heavy-hitting Tele with really unique looks.
This is the Select Thinline Telecaster that features a flame maple top on a semi-hollow ash body. The Thinline Tele has a “C” shaped birdseye maple neck, compound 9.5-14″ fretboard radius, and two Fender Select Telecaster single-coil pickups. We’re loving the Violin Burst finish, and what’s more is that this guitar also comes in a variation with gold hardware. Classy!
This is where Fender really brought out the innovation and threw us for a loop: the new Select Stratocaster HSS. On first glance, it just looks like a Strat with a flame maple top on an alder body – but closer examination to the fretboard shows us the brand new “Channel-Bound” system that goes into building these guitars, where the compound-radius fretboard is actually inlaid right into the modern “C” shaped neck. The end result is an incredibly seamless feel to the neck, with rounded edges and no side seam between the neck and fretboard. Very cool.
This good looker is the new Select Jazzmaster HH guitar, built with a chambered alder body and a flame maple top. This guitar pictured has a Twilight Burst finish, along with two Wide Range Special humbucking pickups, an Adjusto-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, and an S-1 switch that converts the tone of the humbuckers to a fat single coil sound for lots of versatility in one cool looking Jazzmaster. Also note the aforementioned “channel-bound” rosewood fretboard in the maple neck.
And lest the Select Series forgets about showing some four-string love, we have the very awesome Select Active Jazz Bass, with a Tobacco Sunburst finish and a flame maple top on an alder body. The Active Jazz Bass has…you guessed it – active electronics that give you Master Volume, Pan Control, Three-Band Active EQ with Treble Boost/Cut, Bass Boost/Cut, and Mid Boost/Cut. Lots of tones available in a very elegant bass.
