The Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude 30th Anniversary Bass: an Instrument Built for a Master!
Limited to only 30 basses built for the entire world, The Music Zoo was one of six North American Yamaha dealers to carry the 30th Anniversary Attitude Bass!
Everyone who is familiar with the Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude Bass knows how special it is. From its dual pickups wired to stereo outputs, scalloped fretboard, and even two different sized fretwires depending on what part of the fretboard you're playing on - there's nothing else like the Attitude Bass. For its 30th anniversary of the first one being released, Yamaha decided to honor Billy Sheehan with a run of 30 new Attitude Basses in a sunburst finish, just like the original "Wife" Bass which Billy had modified to hell and back for his own personal preferences!
How "The Wife" became the Attitude Bass
The original bass which Billy used as a template for experimentation was a Fender Precision Bass, stripped of its finish and quite literally modded to hell and back. Each modification was something he did while playing on the road from 1971 all the way up to its retirement in the late 1980s. He added the neck humbucker pickup, added a chunkier profiled Tele Bass neck, a Hipshot D-Tuner to the low E string, scallopedthe ends of the fretboard, and even wired each pickup to a separate output. All of these mods made their way to the official production version of the Yamaha Attitude Bass that made it so successful; the separate "woofer and tweeter" pickups, scalloped frets, fret sizes, and D-Tuna. There's nothing quite like the Yamaha Attitude Bass anywhere else!
Crafted in Japan to the highest standards!
Each Attitude 30th Anniversary Bass was crafted in Japan. Each bass came with a numbered certificate of authenticity, as well as an extra pickguard included in the case which was signed by Billy himself! The Music Zoo had Bass #8, which sold almost immediately!
